What to Look for in a Dog Boarding Facility: Ensuring a Safe and Comfortable Stay in Doggy Daycare Utah

Introduction

Leaving your beloved canine companion in someone else’s care, especially overnight, can be a source of anxiety for any pet owner. Finding the right dog boarding facility in Utah is crucial to ensure your pet’s comfort and well-being. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore what you should consider when choosing a dog boarding facility in Doggy Daycare Utah and Dog Boarding Utah. With a focus on safety and health, accommodations, activities, and socialization, as well as the importance of reviews and testimonials, you can make an informed decision about your dog’s temporary home away from home.

Safety and Health: Prioritizing Your Dog’s Well-being

Vaccination Requirements: A Fundamental Necessity

One of the first and most critical aspects to consider when selecting a dog boarding facility in Utah is their vaccination requirements. A reputable facility will demand proof of up-to-date vaccinations for every dog they admit. This practice ensures the health and safety of all dogs under their care and is a clear sign of a responsible and professional establishment.

Emergency Protocols: A Prepared Facility

Emergencies can happen at any time, and being prepared is vital. When researching boarding facilities, inquire about their emergency protocols in case of a medical crisis. A trustworthy facility should have well-defined procedures in place and access to immediate veterinary care when needed, ensuring your dog’s well-being even in the face of unexpected situations.

Security Measures: Preventing Escapes and Providing Peace of Mind

Your dog’s safety doesn’t stop at vaccinations and medical readiness; it extends to the facility’s security. Make sure the boarding facility is well-secured to prevent escapes and unauthorized access. A secure facility will not only keep your dog safe but also provide you with peace of mind knowing your pet is in a controlled and protected environment.

Accommodations: A Comfortable Retreat for Your Furry Friend

Sleeping Quarters: Spacious and Clean Living Spaces

Your dog’s accommodations play a significant role in their overall comfort during their stay. Look for facilities that offer spacious and clean kennels or suites. Adequate space ensures your dog has room to move around and relax, while cleanliness is essential for maintaining their health and happiness.

Personal Items: Familiar Comforts from Home

Many dog boarding facilities allow you to bring some of your dog’s personal items, such as their bed, blanket, or favorite toy. These familiar comforts from home can help ease your pet’s anxiety and make their stay more enjoyable. Be sure to ask the facility about their policies on bringing personal items for your dog.

Climate Control: Optimal Temperature and Ventilation

Consider the facility’s climate control. A well-ventilated and temperature-controlled environment is crucial to ensure your dog’s comfort, especially during extreme weather conditions. Dogs are sensitive to temperature, and you want them to be as cozy and content as possible during their stay.

Activities and Socialization: Keeping Your Dog Happy and Engaged

Playtime: Essential for Physical and Mental Stimulation

Your dog needs regular exercise and mental stimulation, even while in a boarding facility. Look for facilities that offer several play sessions each day to keep your dog active and happy. Playtime is essential for your dog’s well-being and helps alleviate stress and anxiety associated with being away from home.

Individual Attention: One-on-One Time with Staff

In addition to group play, your dog should receive individual attention from the facility’s staff. Staff interaction is essential for maintaining your dog’s social and emotional well-being. Regular human interaction can help reduce any potential anxiety or loneliness your pet might experience during their stay.

Additional Services: Grooming and Training

Some dog boarding facilities in Utah go the extra mile by offering grooming or training services during your dog’s stay. If your dog could benefit from grooming, training, or other additional services, be sure to inquire about these options. These services can make your dog’s stay even more rewarding and productive.

Reviews and Testimonials: Insights from Other Pet Owners

Checking Reviews: Valuable Insights

Just as with daycare, it’s crucial to check reviews and testimonials when evaluating dog boarding facilities. Reading about the experiences of other pet owners can provide valuable insights into the facility’s quality of care, safety measures, and overall customer satisfaction. Look for trends in reviews and make note of any recurring positive or negative points.

Conclusion

Choosing the right dog boarding facility is a decision that requires thoughtful consideration and attention to detail. Your dog’s safety, comfort, and enrichment should be your top priorities when selecting a facility. Take the time to visit multiple facilities, ask plenty of questions, and trust your instincts to find the ideal boarding home for your furry friend. With these guidelines in mind, you can ensure your dog’s stay at a Doggy Daycare Utah and Dog Boarding Utah facility is a positive and stress-free experience for both you and your pet.

Our dog loves it here, and he's never had any issues. He always comes home tired and happy. We especially like their hiking service that let's our dog get his energy out while having a blast playing with the other dogs. They're attentive enough here to recognize when we had a huge event happening in our lives (moving houses) because our dog wasn't acting like his usual self. I highly recommend this doggie daycare.

Love Fetch Daycare. We use them for overnight daycare for our dog anytime we are traveling and can't take him with us. Our dog loves it there, they take good care of him and I love the cameras they have posted in the lobby. The dogs are kenneled at night and roam freely inside during the day. They also offer treadmill training and hiking packages for a decent price. They don't break the bank with their pricing and treat our dog well. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

I had been taking my dogs to Fetch for little over a year- prior and after their “reopening”. To say the least, the conditions haven’t improved in even the slightest. And the new manager/front desk girls clearly mask the issues with a fake smile and a lack of care. One of my dogs was diagnosed with Giardia (keep in mind we go to dog parks and Tanner and have for YEARS, I understand this is a risk of bringing dogs together. But after 5 years in other daycares - my dogs have never been sick). Both of my dogs have suffered from punctures, bites, scratches and more- none of which could be explained to me. They also still gorge down water immediately when they get home…Another time my dog contracted kennel cough, which wasn’t a big deal. We got on antibiotics and returned three weeks later- the next day my dog was diagnosed with pneumonia. I picked her up the day before (they also brought out the wrong dog…) and she was wheezing and barley mobile. The legal issues (them being shutdown for abuse, neglect, having puppies in the attic, permit issues, drainage issues, etc) are still so prevalent and I took a look at the yard outside- it’s absolutely filthy. The reviews and police reports speak volumes. Please take your babies elsewhere. FYI business owner, you won’t find my name in your customer database cause I’m using an alias. But this is all very real, very true, and very scary. These people are monsters. They do not care about your dogs as much as the front desk ladies act like they do.

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE. I brought my dog here twice for daycare and after I brought him home the second time he was coughing and having difficulty breathing. He can barely make it 50 feet from the door without one of these coughing fits. After a vet visit that cost me $600 he’s been diagnosed with kennel cough and pneumonia. He has 2 weeks of antibiotics to take and cannot exercise or play for just as long. After calling to ask for my money back for the 6 daycare days I had purchased and to let them know that my dog is seriously ill I was not offered any accountability, only a refund. After I realized any accountability was off the table I just told the general manager I was speaking to that they need to know that a dog has gotten seriously ill at their facility and they just kept deflecting. The place is obviously overcrowded and understaffed. It smells like urine. I should’ve gone with my gut and taken my dog somewhere else.
